“I’ve been around motorbikes from a young age when my dad used to have bikes and I’d hate to imagine the day I don’t have one.
Anyway, I was 25 before I could afford to take up motorcycling which was when I borrowed my brother’s 125 to take my test on. Since then I’ve had over 20 different bikes, both classic and modern. Once I’d heard about Blood Bikes Cumbria and what they did, I was desperate to sign up and I didn’t waste too much time before taking my advanced riding training with IAM.
Everyone you speak to has the highest regard for our NHS, including myself, and even more so for the way in which they coped with all the pressures during the Covid pandemic.
I’m very proud to have counted myself as Blood Bike volunteer since 2018, as it’s my way of helping the NHS and saying ‘thank you’. I couldn’t do this without the support of my wife Sue, especially when I’ll agree to cover a last minute run which means I’m late for an evening out!”
