“I’ve been a blood biker since 2014 after taking early retirement. I saw joining Blood Bikes Cumbria as a way to give back to a community that I’ve called home for 50 years, since I moved here from Scotland. This also seemed like a good way of helping the NHS, as my wife worked as a nurse for many years, before retiring this year.

After retiring as warehouseman for John Lewis, I always wanted to help others. It was particularly rewarding for me, to have the privilege of helping the smaller hospitals during the first national lockdown.”
